Programs For Everyone

Were you a Girl Scout? Do you remember the joy of accomplishing a task, sitting around a campfire with friends, providing service to your community, learning about yourself, your country and the world around you, and knowing you had the skills to deal with all that life handed you? In Girl Scouts you learned to be a leader and - just as important - a follower.

For Girls:

Girls participate in a variety of programs and activities:

  • Proficiency badge work
  • Troop/group meetings
  • Planning and goal setting
  • Career exploration
  • Summer resident and day camps
  • Exploring science and technology
  • Building relationships
  • Sporting events
  • In-school programs
  • Overnight trips and camping
  • Individual Girl Scout programs

Service is the key component of the Girl Scout program. Girl Scouts provide hundreds of hours of service each year in their communities:

  • Military Mail and Valentines for Vets
  • Community clean-up days
  • Sock it to Me - socks/gloves for children
  • Dental Kits for Health Centers
  • Tree - Planting
  • Holiday presents for the less fortunate children
  • Grains of Love - food bank donations
  • Meals for Seniors
  • Health kits for Head Start programs

For Adults:

Girl Scouts provide one of the best adult training programs of any non-profit organization. Training includes:

  • Child Development and Behavior
  • Troop Management and Organization
  • Money Management
  • Outdoor Skills
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Stress Management
  • Parenting Skills

"I am still a Girl Scout Leader and very active in Girl Scout events, Service Unit, etc., because I love kids and strongly believe in benefits and programs of Girl Scouting."

- GSWC Leader
