Courage       Confidence      Character

Welcome to Girl Scouts of Winema Council where building girls with courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place is our number one job. Here in Winema Council developing leaders is what we are all about. With nearly 2000 girl members and 600 adult volunteers we offer a wide variety of programs, events, workshops and opportunities for adventure to any girl 5-17 years old. Currently, we serve girls in Southern Oregon and Northern California —from the coast, through the mountains, to the high desert. With our unique mix of remote rural areas, small towns and urban centers, ours is a diverse council. Please join us in the Girl Scout adventure.

Changes Afoot

Driven by the new realities of our ever-changing world, Girl Scouts is undergoing unprecedented Movement-wide changes to align our operations with our vision of meeting the needs and challenges of girls today and in the future (Core Business Strategy). The Movement-wide transformation is focused on clearly defining our leadership development program, strengthening our volunteer structure, and realigning councils—the Girl Scouts of Winema Council is engaged in all of these plans.

In October of 2007, Northern Siskiyou County and Del Norte County in California , currently part of Winema Council, will join the newly formed Girl Scouts of Northern California Council. Also in October, the Oregon counties in Winema Council will begin planning for realignment with other councils in Oregon and the Portland Metropolitan area to become a new council. These council realignments will create greater resources for the girls and volunteers in the form of more program opportunities, choices of properties, and more ways to be involved in Girl Scouts. We look forward to what lies ahead. Visit the new Council Realignment Committe (CRC) web site and get to know our partners in the new council by visiting their current websites (Western Rivers, Santiam, Columbia River and Silver Sage).
